Frequently Asked Questions about LASIK

Is there any pain?
The LASIK procedure is generally painless, however, some patients experience a slight stinging sensation or a feeling of dryness that can be relieved by artificial tear drops.

Can I have surgery done on both eyes at the same time?
Absolutely! Some patients do prefer to do one eye at a time for various reasons. Your options can be discussed during your consultation.

How old do I have to be for the laser vision correction procedure?
Dr. Drucker prefers that patients be at least 21-years-old with a stable prescription. There is no age limit, but potential candidates should discuss their personal medical history with Dr. Drucker.

What are the side effects?

As with any procedure or operation there are risks. The LASIK procedure is very safe and complications are rare. The risks and benefits will be thoroughly explained to you during your consultation.

How soon can I return to work after my LASIK procedure?
Most of our patients are able to drive the day after their procedure. This enables the patient to return to work in a shorter amount of time!

Does the surgery wear off?
LASIK creates a permanent change in the shape of the cornea. However, it is important to know that your eyes will change with age. Laser Vision Correction will not prevent any related conditions such as Presbyopia or cataracts, they would need to be treated in the usual manner.
