EXPERIENCE FREEDOM
LASIK Eye Surgery
What is LASIK?
Imagine being able to work, drive, read the clock, play sports, snow ski- do just about everything - without always having to reach for your glasses or contacts. An eye treatment called LASIK
(laser
in-situ keratomileusis) could make this a reality for you. If you're a candidate for LASIK, Dr. Drucker can reshape the surface of your eye using a laser, so that images focus more clearly. The result can be a dramatic improvement in your vision - and your lifestyle.
Could LASIK change your life?
Depending on glasses or contacts to see may cramp your lifestyle. Glasses fog up, fall off, scratch, and break. Frames and thick lenses interfere with side vision. Contacts can irritate your eyes, especially if dust gets under a lens or if you have dry eyes or allergies. Both glasses and contacts can limit your choice of careers or sports. LASIK may be an option that could reduce or eliminate your need for glasses and contacts.
Is LASIK right for you?
The success of LASIK depends mainly on your eyes. You may be a good candidate for LASIK if your vision is stable, you have myopia (nearsightedness) or hyperopia (farsightedness) with or without astigmatism (irregular curvature of the cornea, the clear covering of your eye) and you have no other eye problems.

LASIK May Last Longer Than Previously Thought

Research from the American Academy of Ophthalmology finds LASIK does keep on working. Following are the results reported on Channel 4 News on November 15, 2006 by Dave Hnida:
1. LASIK keeps on working.
2. After 10 years it is still working.
3. If there are back slides, it is only 1 line on the eye chart.
4. Vision: 85% are 20/20 after surgery. 95% are 20/40 after surgery.
5. Enhancement: 2% to 5% will need an enhancement.
6. LASIK is safe-very safe, with few complications.
7. Complications are less than 1%.
8. Wave front analysis (Custom LASIK) is the most effective new technology for this procedure. With the new technology, haloes, dry eyes are much less of a problem. |
